Why Can’t V56.12 & VD56.1 ECUs Be Cloned?
Unlike earlier Continental and Bosch ECUs, the PSA V56.12 and VD56.1 ECU families use a security architecture that prevents true one-to-one cloning.
Because of this, simply copying the flash and EEPROM contents into another ECU will not normally produce a working replacement.
Instead, our service professionally prepares a compatible replacement ECU by removing the immobiliser system, allowing the ECU to be installed without requiring the original ECU.
This makes it possible to replace an ECU even when the original unit is completely dead or physically damaged.
